Our Story

Engineered Comfort, Inc was founded in March of 2001. It began with Walter Nelms and a vision. Walter, being a licensed Professional Engineer, had experience in operations with other large commercial and industrial performance and energy conservation companies. Walter could see in the residential market there was a desire to design and improve the efficiency and operation of indoor comfort levels. He also noticed this important task was being totally neglected in the residential sector. Engineered Comfort began with the sole purpose to create comfortable, efficient and healthy environmental systems to homes and buildings. Engineered Comfort is the first company in the Mid South to take on this task.

Engineered Comfort began as company that conducted tests on existing homes and consulted with clients on solutions to resolve problems with performance. After about nine months of this, it was clear that the product we offered by itself was not viable enough to a significant portion of customers. As a result, we obtained our HVAC contractor license and our cellulose insulation capability in the fall of 2001 and began working to provide new and existing homes with HVAC and insulation designs that increased efficiency, comfort control, and indoor air quality. This is the current model for Engineered Comfort along with the service and maintenance department to support the systems we have been installing for many years.
